What is the First Nations banking traineeship?

Would you like to see more deadly young people at your bank? MEGT’s First Nations banking traineeship takes you from trainee to qualified banking professional in just 12–18 months. You'll earn a real wage and gaining hands-on experience with one of Australia's major banks.  

You'll help real customers and study for your Certificate III in Business—all while being supported by people who truly understand your journey.

What makes a great trainee?

We’re looking for young people who are keen to start their banking career. Our ideal candidates: 

  • Have strong communication skills and a professional phone manner
  • Have good attention to detail and problem-solving skills
  • Can work well in a team and can take direction
  • Are reliable and on time, and have a positive attitude
  • Have customer service or money-handling experience (preferred but not essential)
  • Are happy to have a police check, as part of standard banking industry requirements

From your first day to when you finish your qualification, you’ll have a First Nations coach who understands your journey. Your coach can help with everything—from navigating classes, to supporting learning difficulties, to negotiating relationships at work and at home. Meet regularly with your coach at your workplace, training location or via video/phone calls to stay on track and discuss any concerns.
