Thinking of becoming an apprentice?

Apprenticeships combine formal study with paid, hands-on training. Typically lasting 2 to 4 years, they provide you with a nationally-recognised qualification that can lead to rewarding job opportunities and career growth.

As an apprentice, you will:

  • Earn money while you learn new skills
  • Get real-world, hands-on experience
  • Learn from industry experts
  • Accelerate your career
  • Get a nationally-recognised qualification without any student debt

MEGT has tools to help you apply for a job and a Job Board where you can find hundreds of job vacancies.

Mentoring by MEGT

As a female apprentice in a male-dominated field, you can access free, one-on-one support from an MEGT mentor.

Our mentors work with you as a sounding board and ally; offering advice, feedback and encouragement to help keep you motivated throughout your apprenticeship and on track to finish your qualification.

MEGT mentors provide you with a safe space and offer advice that will help you balance your work and training commitments, navigate through any challenges you may face and plan for 'what's next' when you are nearing the end of your qualification.

In addition to one-on-one mentoring, MEGT offers:

  • Helpful resources for you and your employer
  • Support and advice for any niggles or short-term problems
  • Connections to specialist services, if needed
