120 occupations are now on the Australian Apprenticeships Priority List, including 19 new occupations added on 1 January 2024 by the Australian Government,

The list also provides information about the potential for some businesses to claim wage support or subsidies for engaging eligible apprentices and/or trainees. 

The 19 new occupations are: 

  • Ambulance officer
  • Animal husbandry technician
  • Aquaculture or fisheries technician
  • Architectural draftsperson
  • Boat builder and repairer
  • Earth science technician
  • Fire protection plumber
  • Flight attendant
  • Furniture maker
  • Graphic pre-press trades worker
  • Irrigation designer
  • Irrigation technician
  • Light technician
  • Mine deputy
  • Nursing support worker
  • Out of school hours care worker
  • Pharmacy technician
  • Shipwright
  • Sound technician 

The updated Australian Apprenticeships Priority List also provides the most up-to-date information about which jobs and skills are most needed in the Australian workforce, including details of the qualifications required.
