Training carpenters to meet Australia’s building boom with Lendlease

For years, the construction industry has faced a critical shortage of skilled carpenters. To meet this demand, MEGT and Lendlease have worked together to not just build structures but build careers.

So far, we’ve placed more than 160 carpentry apprentices into training programs with Lendlease. Those numbers speak for themselves, but don’t tell the whole story. We know that each individual is a unique human story, because we’ve been there for every one of them. .

From vibrant mixed-use precincts to civil infrastructure, Lendlease is about building spaces for people.

How does Lendlease benefit?

In the 2010s construction boom, Australia had a problem: not enough carpenters. Lendlease needed a solution for both the long and short term, so they turned to us.

Since then, MEGT has worked with Lendlease to train hundreds of carpenters, and we plan to train hundreds more. Our job is to find and support new talent–passionate people who aren’t just good with their hands, but are motivated to succeed.

MEGT provides Lendlease with everything they need to recruit apprentices, and ensure their new talent thrives in the workplace. And as their talent’s legal employer, we provide complete flexibility and peace of mind.

From recruitment all the way through to completing their Certificate III in Carpentry, we’re there every step of the way.
