What does a landscaper do?
Landscapers construct, plant and look after gardens and parks to make welcoming spaces for people to live, work, and unwind in.
You know that stunning garden down the road? The one with layered shrubs, wildflowers, and natural elements that blend seamlessly into the surroundings? Yep, that’s the work of a landscaper. They plan, choose the best materials and plants, and make sure everything comes together beautifully.
Every Aussie garden is unique. Landscapers combine plant and nature knowledge, gardening techniques, and a bit of creativity to make gardens look great, keep clients happy, and care for nature too.

A day in the life of a landscaper
A day in the life of a landscaper is all about creating and maintaining beautiful outdoor spaces.
Your morning might start with tending to gardens—trimming, weeding, fertilising, and mowing to keep everything looking its best.
Next, you could prepare seed beds and grow sites or plant and prune trees, bushes, and flowers to bring a vision to life.
As you plan layouts, select materials, and schedule work, you’ll balance creativity with practicality.
The day may also involve building garden features like walls, ponds, or pergolas, setting up hardscape and softscape elements, or preparing and planting lush, green lawns.
With every task, you’ll combine hands-on work with a passion for transforming outdoor environments into stunning landscapes.
